alrighty, i'm not sure exactly what the problem is. I unfortunately don't know exactly when this started, but i don't exactly remember it being after any hardware or software changes. Well, for one thing, CDs no longer auto-run, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it is. It will occasionally open up the contents of the CD (like if you explored the CD drive through my computer).
Second thing, is also that none of my USB devices, primarily my digital camera will auto-run the wizard either. I know that windows/the camera have little wizard that will pretty much copy pictures from the camera to the computer, but I don't get that either, it should auto-run every time i connect the camera to the computer. Anyone know whats wrong?

I would check for virus/trojans first and have you changed anything in your bios or your system services?

The exact same thing happened to me in the beginning of June, no camera wizard or autopplay of CD's and I had no spyware or virus so it was a mystery what happened. The only thing I could think of was I had just gotten a zone alarm update. Luckily I remembered I had used the camera a few days before and the wizard worked so I used a restore point and it came back as well as auto play of the CD's.

Hi Mary is your problem all sorted
dakkon10, go to my computer, right click on the cd drive, and choose properties, and select the Autoplay tab, then either choose select an action to perform, or at the bottom, prompt me each time to choose an action
If I dont know, somebody will.

Yes I got it all sorted that day and I did go into properties and every thing was set as it should be and it still wouldn't work. It wasn't just the CD drive it was the XP camera wizard that comes up when you insert the memory card into the card reader so autoplay was just not working period for anythihg on the computer even if you set it that way. I never figured out what caused it but a system restore to when it worked did the trick and I have had no problems since. The only thing I can remember is I had just received a zone alarm program update around that time and I think that's when all this happened for me.
