Ever since I installed SP2 on my computer, my autoplay feature for CD-Roms has been gone. I insert a CD, but nothing happeneds. I would have to go to my computer, and then it would start playing. But, whenever I took out the disc and put a new one, it seems to keep reading it as the disc before. I've been trying to fix this for the longest, but I'v yet to find the fix for it.

It's no help I know, but the autoplay function in Xp stopping working seems to suffer from Tom Jonesitis.

I never had these problems with good old 98 mainly cos I used to disable it most of the time, but when it was enabled it worked without fail. I have had autoplay stop working for no apparent reason on 3 different systems out of 4 here at home. On one system I followed the microsoft recommendations and it worked, rebooted and it stopped working then started working by itself with no more intervention from me and continues to work!!!!
The other system settings were as per microsoft site and even now will randomly work or not.
This system autoplay has never stopped working either on the cd writer or the dvd rom.
The last system again works when it fels like it and according to the microsoft site all settings are correct.
I did think at one point it might have been Sonic My DVD or Pinnacle Studio software that may have been causing it so I installed it on this system which after 1 year still works correctly.

Go figure!

Always proof-read carefully to see if you any words out.
