how do you turn off autoplay for good what i mean is where in regedit can you turn it off where the cd or dvd will do nothing when cd is inserted

You can turn it off with TweakUI (part of the Powertoys for XP package). If you have the Pro Edition you can also run GPEDIT.MSC and turn it off from there.
