Tonite, the automatic updates came thru...I restarted my puter to allow them to finish (Like it said I was supposed to do).

NOW, in the lower right hand corner of my screen sits a blue box called Intel(R) Extreme Graphics. (That little blue box has never been there, before.)

When I click the update icon in the bar, a box opens that says: How do you want to install updates? Ive got it clicked Express(Recommended), but...when I click the install button, ANOTHER box comes up that says: Updates were unable to be succesfully installed. There was only ONE update and it is the Intel(R) Graphics Controller.

Does someone know how I can finish installing it? I don't know if I will EVER get used to XP! LOL!!!

TIA!

Sometimes a mistake is made and an update is downloaded when it is not needed. In that case the download is not installed because it senses that it has already been installed.
Right click the icon and delete it if it will let you. Then I would go to M$ updates and see what updates they have for you and also see what updates have already been installed. You will probably see it as already installed. Use the link in the programs section to go there

Well, the little blue Extreme Graphics icon is still in the lower right corner of my bar, and a right click on it gives me no option to delete it.

In my history of installations, it shows that it succesfully loaded, yesterday, but shows that it failed 4 times, today. LOL!!!

What is the Extreme Graphics for, anyway?

TIA

Intel Extreme Graphics is the video graphics chip on your Motherboard and Microsoft is trying to update the driver for you. That is the reason I have Auto updates turned off and use manual updates as I do not want M.S. updating my drivers. You could try a system restore back to before this happened and decide if you want to turn off the auto updates.

Don't forget to check manually for updates every couple days or at least once a week..
