See if you have the following services enabled and set to automatic:

* Background Intelligent transfer
* Cryptogrophic Service
* Remote Procedure Recall
* Stsytem restore service

Morning,
Try going into the control panel/administrative tools/services and see if Automatic Updates is disabled in there. If so, then right click on it and left click Properties. In Properties, set it to automatic, click apply and then OK. Then click " start the service on the top left side of the window.
See if it is still greyed out.

Also try running SFC/SCANNOW from the Command Prompt to restore any problem files in Windows.
Just my thoughts,
XDon

* Automatic Updates
* Background Intelligent transfer
* Cryptogrophic Service
* Remote Procedure Recall
* Stsytem restore service

All services listed above are running, as well as a clean run of SFC/SCANNOW.

Thanks for the input, any other ideas?

Hi All,
Found it on MS KB article.

Configuring Automatic Updates by using local Group Policy
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
Expand Computer Configuration.
Right-click Administrative Templates, and then click Add/Remove Templates.
Click Add, click Wuau.adm in the Windows\Inf folder, and then click Open.
Click Close.
Under Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then expand Windows Update.

"Allow local admin to choose setting"
option need to be set.

Thanks to all who offered help.
