Automatic Update won't stay on

I have a problem with one of the computers at work. All of them are set (and have been for years) to automatically run updates. One of the computers, however, has recently started turning that off every time it reboots. I can go in and turn it on again, and it stays on until the computer is restarted, then it is off. Anyone have this problem? Any thoughts? Thank you.

cyberslob, virus or worm? Scan to be sure. You might also set it the way you want and turn it off using 'file' to force it to 'remember' settings. Thought that only affected physical display, but with Windows, who knows? Worth a try. HTH. Ed in Texas.

That's one of the signs of Conflicker infection. Make sure you're running an up-to-date antivirus program.

I know it's one of the symptoms of the Conficker worm and was concerned about that. However, I was able to manually do the Windows Update and the computer is up-to-date as far as Microsoft goes. I ran a number of scans from various sources today and found the Sober Worm. I have removed that and now the Automatic Updates are staying on, so not sure if that was the problem, but removing the worm seems to have fixed it. I will definitely keep an eye on it, though. Thank you for your responses!
