my computer restarts itself all the time. it is on all the time. it does is not overheating as the case has 3 fans and a very big and more than powerful enough cpu cooler. it is set to restart on system error but when i turned this off it came up with a blue screen telling me to restart or risk damaging my pc so i turned it back on again.

i am an advanced user but this has stumped me. any help?

then surely you've checked the event viewer to see where the error is coming from. so there's no need to do that, right?

I´ve got the same problem! It just restarst itself at various times. Mine has 4 fans, and is set not to shut down on overheat so...
This starded happening after I upraded from win98 to winXp.
Many say that it could be the power-suply...Have you checked that?

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

DRIVER _IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you have seen this stop error screen restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps.
Check to see if any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation ask your manufacturer for any windows updates you may need.
If problems continue disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software.
Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safemode to remove or disable componemts ,restart your computer press f8, to select advanced startup options and then select safemode.

Some FYI

I have had a lot of problems with video drives in XP. I use to get all sorts of blue screens telling to reboot in order protect my hardware. I reverted to (even) older drivers and it has solved a lot of my problems, but not all. I have an older card and the OEM when out of business so the newest drivers for my card were only for 2k, pre XP :( Anyway maybe you are having a problem with a device driver, even though everything is up to date, cause the driver has been adapted for XP and not made for XP.
