I have used several download managers one at a time during the last two weeks, including DAP, Fresh Download, Free Download Manager, Star Downloader, Download Express and True Downloader. I did this because i was trying to find a download manager which could automatically start the downloading of a ".exe" file even if the download link pointed to a ".htm" file.
Barring Download Accelerator Plus, no other download manager starts the automatic download of a ".exe" file if the download link points to a ".htm" file. In every single instance, the web page that contained the download link got saved. The download managers were not able to redirect themselves to the ".exe" download.
Yes, if the download link points to a ".exe" file, then all these programs have no difficulty in starting the automatic download of the file.
Why are the download managers not being able to automatically start the downloading of the ".exe" file if the download link ponits to a ".htm" file? How come Download Accelerator Plus is able to do it. For your information, I did not forget to integrate the download manager with Internet Explorer.

r28271,can't give you a direct answer. Can give you my SWAG. Could it be the .exe. suffix? Most of the nasties around use that and many times a download manager's programmed to be suspicious and wary.
