If there is only one user and that user has never entered a password then XP will logon automatically.

But;

There is a more controllable way of ensuring that your computer automatically logs on to a particular user account.

You install Tweak UI for XP, which is a Powertoy freely available for download from Microsoft.

Tweak UI resides in the control panel. Fire it up and fill in the Log On tab with the details for the account and password you want to log on with. Make sure that a corresponding account and password have already been set up.

It adds plenty of other useful functionality to your desktop if you play about with it, as do the other Powertoys.

You can download Tweak UI from here

I tried all of those things and they work but then if I restart a second time it will still ask me?
