I like to leave my laptop on for the day however, many times when I return the laptop has logged off.
WHY? And how do I fix it?

Mine does the same thing. Sometimes it'll be on for days at a time, then other times it shuts itself off. I have the power save functions to NEVER, the monitor power to NEVER and the screen saver to 20 Minutes. Yet sometimes it still shuts off and will continue to do that for several cycles then revert to never again.
