Hi,
Where does WinXp's Automatic Windows Update save all the downloaded files, after completion?I mean i was thinking of saving those critical Updates Etc in my Backup,so that whenever i had to Re-install,i wouldn't have to go thru the process of downloading 30Mb again on my poor 56K :(.
Kindly Help.Thanks.

Waleed:Why not simply order a free Microsoft update CD? Saved me tons of time on my last reinstallation of XP (I'm on a 56K modem too).
The disk contains some extra goodies, among them a firewall and year's free subscription to antivirus software.

Waleed:Sorry. I'm trying to think of a work-around for you. I'm not sure, even if you found and copied the contents of the update folder, that you could reinstall them without the installer which Microsoft uses.
One way might be to turn off automatic updating and download the updates to your desktop manually, using Save in the dialog box, instead of selecting Open. Then copy the file to a CD. That way the installer would be included with the update itself.
The method will work with some updates, but not all. Many times, the only choice given by MS is to immediately install an update; there's no option for Save or Open.

yeah exactly thats very right,MS wont let us save or open the updates thru their site :(.It just installs on demand...
But still thanks a lot for ur help :).Really Appreciate that.

he had a step by step proceedure for copying the files to a bootable disc for just that purpose from your own pc that way if you needed to reinstall xp then all you would have to do was run the disc. It was mostly the earlier updates and it should still apply .Self-reverence
