I have seen a lot of posts on here on how to fix the auto log off virus using the XP CD repair. Unfortunately, I am working on a friends laptop and they do not have the disks.
I am not computer smart as far as changing anything in registries and such as mentioned in other posts. I do know enough about getting rid of viruses....though I guess I missed one and it got out. LOL
Can someone tell me in plain English how to go about fixing this problem on a Sony Vaio Laptop running Windows XP (I'm assuming SP2, but am not sure). Would it be better for me to take it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy?

First check to see if that particular model sony vaio has a recovery partition on the hard disk. If it does you won't need an XP disk. I don't know what the key combo is for it though, you'll have to research that. Do that before you possibly throw away and get charged for something extra that was never a problem to begin with at that place you mentioned.
