Audio Problem with Skype

I would appreciate some advice about fixing a problem I have with making phone calls using the Skype network. I can hear the person I am calling alright, however, the receiver can only hear me faintly. In acc. with the person I call, this only happens with my connection.
I am running Windows XP Pro and Skype Vers 1.2.0.48. Skype audio system setup (part of the installation procedure) calls for a Sigmatel audio driver. My sound card is a 'Creative SB PCI128 (Ensoniq ES5880), apparently not supported by a Sigmatel driver. However, my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-8TX) has onboard sound and apparently supports that driver. Downloaded the driver, cannot install (via Device Mgr.).
I am stuck and would appreciate some help. Wilfried

Hi Wilfried,
try removing previous drivers and installing it again. Check to see if your microphone is good and if the cause of your problem is ur microphone quality.

Volume, options, properties and check for the microphone being muted. I've seen various apps reset it to default. Some also see an error with regards to the wave playback causing grief with Skype, just mute it while using the app.
