audio not working

Specs: Windows XP
i just installed xp on a blank hard drive my old one got messed up, everything works fine but i have no audio,
ive tried updating drivers, installling realtek drivers (what i had on my old one) and cant get it working

It still sounds like a driver issue, go to your control panel and bring up your sound and look first to see if the drivers did work if you are able to bring the sound bar up then they are working unless you already looked in device manager and seen they are still not there, if so go to cnet downloads and try there and see if you can the driver and see if it will work then.

this is looks you did not use the correct driver

try this go to device manager > look at the other device if you can find Multimedia controller, if is there try this

right click on it> select update driver > select now and any time I connect a device> install from the list or specific location advance> don't search i want to choose driver to install, scroll to sound, video and game controller> select Intel from the manufacturers and select Intel Realtek AC97.
