Audio Input Problem

Asus Eee pc 1101ha netbook

Specs: XP

I have the Sony Vaio VGN-FS515H, and the speakers are fine. But when I plug my headphones, the sound sometimes goes off and sometimes it goes to mono instead of stereo. I tried with several headphones and it does the same problem. When I plug some headphones with a small input jack, there is no sound at all. There is no dust inside.

How can I change only this audio input?

Thank you!

Sounds like a problem with the phone jack socket. If you have no experience of taking the machine apart I suggest you contact a hardware service provider.

Phone sockets are pretty standard on laptops and often a socket from another unit will do the job. However, the jack itself might just need the contacts reset, a simple enough job.

Good luck.
