Hi i bought an ATX case in there it came with 6 fans NOT including the CPU and the video card. When i leave it on at night it's super loud. I'm wondering do i need all those fans?..or can i just use the CPU and the video card fans and that is it?

Seems a tad excessive, unplug one, use the PC for a couple of hours and check the temps, if all is ok repeat the process.

Cpu and 1 case fan should be enough!

A 2.8 ghz chip will produce quite a bit of heat, so overkill is a good thing in this area. As long has you have a good heatsink and fan on your processor and videocard you should be able to disconnect a couple of the fans without any problems.

Search google.com for a program called Speedfan. Use it to monitor your temps closely for a while. Really crank the system, play a game, encode a video, generate an Xp key LOL (that program really hammers a cpu), anything to really stress that box.

A couple more ideas you might consider. Buy new "silent" fans. I have 5 fans in my rig and the only one I can really hear is my cpu fan, which isn't a silent type fan.

Or you could even wire up a kill switch for some of the fans, just flip it when you go to bed.

Hope this helps,
Sandman

P.S. I do not recommend running just one cpu and one case fan. You will have poor air flow which results in pockets of hot air being trapped inside the case.
