Well, I've got a ATI TV Wonder VE card installed, but it won't work, keep getting a failed to initalize video error. I've contacted ATI 3 times and done everything they said to do. Yes I downloaded the latest and greatest drivers, and DirectX 8.0. I've tried every config. Every thing I can think of (And that's a lot). So if anybody has any ideas please let me know. Thanks

I had a similar problem with my ATI All-In-Wonder card. Make sure you download and install the DirectX 8 Video Capture Update. This is separate from the DirectX 8 file and is also available at Microsoft's site. I was getting the same error you are, but once I installed this file it fixed everything.
Good Luck!

This thread is a little old, but I'm having the same problem. I've installed the DX Video Update (also looks like V8.1 of DX has that included, btw). And re-installed all s/w.
Any resolution to this issue???
Thanks.

I'm running XP so it says the DV capture drivers are already installed. Mine works at lower resolutions, like 800x600, but not at higher res's like 1280x1024. Heres the interesting part. I have Adobe Premiere 6 and Ulead DVD movie factory. These programs Capture functions allow the tv card to work at these higher resolutions. Here's my idea. Find a visual basic plugin to interact with this card and make a new program that can work at higher resolutions. Other TV card manufactures distribute OCX's for their products, why not ATI? I mean, they got their money, now let us use our damn TV cards on systems with useable resolutions!
But that's just my idea. haha

ATI just SUCKS. Ive been stuck with a TV card that I cant do anything with, since I installed XP. No tech support either. Here is what they say to do. THEY REALLY SUCK
FROM ATI WEB SITE......
TV display is corrupt using TV WONDER in Windows XP
This issue affects the ATI TV WONDER and TV WONDER VE under Windows XP using ATI Multimedia Center 7.1.In some instances when using a Windows XP bundled display driver, the TV display will be corrupt when using a TV WONDER. The TV image will appear as scrambled, diagonal lines. TV audio is usually present and other features work properly.
In most instances this issue can be resolved by updating the display driver for the graphics card you are using under Windows XP.
For ATI RADEON, RAGE128 or RAGE 128 PRO display adapters updated Windows XP are available for download from ATI.
no keysno keys----------------------Some customers have reported that they are able to work around this issue by changing the colour depth from 16bpp to 32bpp (or from 32bpp to 16bpp) while the TV Player is running. After doing this the TV Player appears to provide a proper display.
To change the colour depth:
Open the Windows DISPLAY PROPERTIES panel.
Change the colour depth from 16bpp to 32bpp (or from 32bpp to 16bpp).
Click APPLY.
This must be done each time TV is started.ATI SUCKS
