guys....help meeeee!!!
Situation:
Windows XP by default installs a driver set while installation, My Video Card is ATI All-in-Wonder Rage 128 PROthis card has tv tuner
now, i went to ATI website and downloaded the latest drivers ver. 6.13.3279
and their MULTIMEDIA SOFT ver 7.2 no DVDnow, i click on the TV player program and it says
"failed to initialize video", what the heck did i do wrong?
also, in ATI's website knowledge base
i read somewhere that terminal services in XP need be disabled (to get those damned ? huh? what is that?I also notice that the Rage Theater drivers are not there in Device Manager. It worked when i had win2k
basically I figure I have to get the TV tuner drivers working but it wouldnt detetc or something else is going on.for right now I am pointing fingers at Microsoft. and yelling and crying and tearing my hair
somebodyyyyy helppppp meeeeeee

This may help. I am having the same problem after getting the latest ATI Multimedia Driver (7.2) thru the Microsoft Windows Update site. I had multimedia v7.1 and my TV worked fine. Just after "upgrading" to the v7.2 my TV also has the same problem. I am going to try this evening to install v7.1 which did work. I do not know if that is the answer or not. The display driver 6.13.3279 is the same as I had with multimedia 7.1.

I have xp pro with an ATI Rage Fury Pro and ATI TV Wonder VE. It is working perfectly. I'm using MMC 7.1. The other night I downloaded from the MS update site 4 new drivers. Then my tv malfunctioned. Bummer, it was working great. What I found out, after rolling back all the drivers to their previous versions was that the "conexant" driver was the culprit. If you too downloaded this driver I'd try rolling back to the previous version. As far as the other problems, my experience is that you must follow the MMC install directions EXACTLY. Be sure to uninstall old software first. Print out the directions for MMC and video card install and follow religously. You must also update all the drivers from your card in Device Manager. Took me several tries to get it right, but it was worth the agg. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

I agree with donalddk. The MS update did not remove the previous MMC7.1 before 7.2 was installed. Last night, I installed MMC 7.2 after removing 7.1 and the TV tuner works. HOWEVER, I am now getting my first lockups and automatic REBOOTS when I have the TV active. Several times an error report has been generated to be sent to MS and it says the ATI Display Driver has a problem. Soooo, I am thinking about uninstalling the MMC 7.2 and reinstalling the MMC 7.1. I am finding that the old rule is still true, "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX (UPGRADE) IT."

I chose not to install the TWO ATi driver updates I was presented with at Windows Update on Monday - on Wednesday, when I re-did Windows Update to install those drivers - they weren't presented to me as available... I suspect they were withdrawn for some reason.

I'm using MMC 7.1 and you'd have to pay me a lot of dough to make me "upgrade" to 7.2. It was such a bear getting it all to work right that I'm not gonna touch it. It is working perfectly now and I'm scared to "upgrade".

Well, like most of you, I'm totally aggravated by trying to get ati wonder ve working on XP. I've followed the instructions at ATI and even wrote them asking why install mmc7.1 for the tv while insatlling mmc7.2 for my radeon. After following the instructions and rebooting my system won't start. All worked well in Win2K. Perhaps in a year's time someone will come up with a tv tuner card for XP.

i am running windows xp pro with an ati all in wonder 128 pro and was having a problem with my tv tuner out of the blue one day. i dont recall it being attributed to a driver or mmc software at all but it couldve been. so i downloaded the drivers and mmc from ati, which proved to be the versions i had installed already, uninstalled the drivers and mmc, rebooted, then installed the drivers, rebooted again then installed mmc and now everything is working fine. thanks to donald above for giving me the idea to reinstall and actually follow instructions.

I am running Xp with an ati Rage XL agp 2x
I cannot for the life of me get any multimedia center to work for me....I am getting so fustrated....
I tried Installing 7.1 and 7.2 but they don't install a TV player only a DVD and VCD....Can anyone help me....before I go Crazy...Thanks
Ty

Yes That is my card......it is built in to a eone...emachine.....
3 RCA Jacks....I have it hooked up to my VCR and I used to watch TV through that.

Hi i have ATI rage 128 with tuner I Installed winXp a while ago and of course my tv didn`t work so i went to ATI website and upgraded the latest drivers. I tried to upgrade the mmc from the original drivers that came on the cd-rom but it gave me an error, unable to locate installation log file c:\program files\ATimultimedia\uninstal.isu`. uninstallation will not continue any tips on how to remove it ? I also did a file search for that file to try to copy to where it says its missing this has happened ever since WIn XP upgrade.

We've been attempting to install the ATI TV Wonder VE in my wife's new Sony Vaio system for two nights now.... She previously had a Pinnacle PCTV card installed, but it is not compatible. Our biggest nightmare so far has been in the detection by Win XP that the card (ATI) we put in is being detected as a Studio PCTV card. The system has gotten 'stuck' on the old card. I have reviewed the de-install three times, and can't find the culprit. I think once I get past this sticking point, we may be in the same boat as many of you with this card.
I do have a Radeon 7500 All-in-Wonder functioning great under XP. Makes a big difference.... But then, my system is a Compaq.....
Any ideas on how to get this Sony Vaio and Windows Xp to see the light....

Ken, try this. Physically remove the ATI card. Uninstall the software. Then, Start > Run > Type "regedit" (without quotes) and hit OK. In the registry, goto Edit menu and select Find. Type in ATI and hit Find Next. Delete all the keys that the search finds. Hit F3 after each deletion to continue the search. After you find all the ATI instances, start a new registry search for Pinnacle and delete all those keys. This should definitely kill the Pinnacle stuff. Restart. Now try installing the ATI card again. After you install it go to device manager and rite-clik on all the new drivers that you just installed and see if you can update the drivers from there. Good luck. Let us know what happens.
