Hi,

did anyone manage to use the ASUS capture driver in Windows XP ???
I installed the latest drivers for Win 2000, but when I try to capture I always get "Can't connect to capture driver".
Overlay does work in ASUS Live, but no capturing is not possible ....

I was having all of the problems described above, but finally got everything to work:

new install of XP w. ASUS V7700 GForce 2 Deluxe (and all other hardware) in place.

install Asus 14.10 Win2K beta driver, by running ANvSetup.exe (download from www.asus.com.tw)
reboot
install Live 4.6 beta 5
check: Install ASUS capture driver
reboot
configure desktops
run Live
Uncheck Mute "Live in" on Volume Control
reboot
install Digital VCR 2.0
accept checked: "ASUS WDM Capture Driver"
check "Install ASUS WDM Capture Driver"
check "NTSC M/N"
reboot
"Found New Hardware: ASUS WDM Video Capture (universal)
select: "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" , Next
Continue Anyway
Finish
"ASUS WDM TVTuner" (even though there is no tuner)
select: "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" , Next
Continue Anyway
Finish
"ASUS WDM TVAudio Crossbar"
select: "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" , Next
Continue Anyway
Finish
"ASUS WDM A/V Crossbar"
select: "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" , Next
Continue Anyway
Finish

balloon: "Your software is ready to go or something like that"

I can run DVCR, shut it down, and then run Live, but I can't run DVCR after Live without rebooting.
Nor can I run "Windows XP Movie Maker" without rebooting. But then it does work.

I did this install successfully both with ACPI turned off in the BIOS and ACPI turned on in the BIOS (ABIT KT7A-RAID, Athlon TB 900, also two other (PCI) Graphics cards, 3 monitors total) PowerToys MSVirtualDesktop Manager installed (free from MS), all works great.

I have Asus 7700 Deluxe Video card and it works perfectly under windows xp . here is the solution:
1: install capdrvnt it's in your cd asus 7700 series
2: install asus live. After instalation click under properties (of asuslive) and choose compatibility then turn it on to run under windows 2000 and it will work)

my 6800 deluxe works nicely with the WHQL drivers, but if I install Asus Live on XP RC1 it just won't start in any mode

In RC2 at least one can use safe mode to get rid of it

The thing is that Asus in their infinate wisdom don't even appear to have an mention of XP on their web site, nothing in the beta drivers, and they have taken down their forums for a re-write.

Plus, what as well as having an XP coded Live, I'd like to know if they plan on writing drivers to WHQL specifications and getting them signed.

If they don't have them signed... well..
Theres no excuse for not having them properly tested and signed now. As technically they now have to write less drivers, so can use their budget on having them tested and signed

But asus always have been slow at producing updates to their drivers.

Whn I click on ASUS Live I get this....

Video decoder detecting occurs error!
The reason could be:

1. Your display card doesn't have a video decoder
2. Your monitor or monitor driver is not properly design for I2C bus Control

Well, for (1) I have a V7700 Ti Deluxe

and (2) what the stuff does the second message mean. I have an ADI720, what do I need or need to do!

It’s very simple. I use a Asus V7700 DeLuxe

1. Uninstal all display-drivers
2. Reboot
3. Install version 1462aw2p which you can find on the FTP-site from Asus with the Control Panel
4. Reboot
5. Install live46b5
6. Reboot
7. Disable the Asus Driver Helper Service for a quick shutdown.

8. And you are ready to capture!!!

Sometimes it will help you to install the drivers with AnvSetup.
Good luck.

What does "Disable the Asus Driver Helper Service for a quick shutdown." mean.

I still get the sam old message...

Video decoder detecting occurs error!
The reason could be:

1. Your display card doesn't have a video decoder
2. Your monitor or monitor driver is not properly design for I2C bus Control

Isn't this just a barrel of fun!

Dear customer,
Thanks for choosing ASUSTeK.
Please download the latest version driver for your video card according to
your OS from our ftp web site:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/vga/agp/v8200t25/2181aw2p.zip (for Win2K/XP)
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/vga/agp/v8200t25/2181aw9m.zip (for Win9X/Me)
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/vga/agp/v8200t25/2181ant4.zip (for NT4)

And there is a latest version Digital VCR software in our web site. Please
download it from:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/vga/apps/asusdvcr.zip
It can work under Windows 9X/ME/WIN2K/XP.

Please firstly uninstall the current video card driver before installing the
new version driver.
Any future problem, please feel free let me know.

I just downloaded the new driver and I'll test it tonight.
But will this clear the problems with Asus Live?
I've installed the latest Asus Digital VCR (together with the capture driver) last night - but they just don't work with Live.
And obviously Live doesn't work properly under XP (a lot, a lot of flickering - it's impossible to watch dynamic pictures such a soccer game). I hope that Asus will release a new version of the Live Utility too. Soon.

alright, I installed all of Asus's drivers and everything. Just about everything works great. The problem is that I cant select my codec. When I open up Asus Live, set it to "Capture" mode, click on "Setup" then go to "Capture CODEC" it crashes. This happens on ANY program where I am supposed to choose the codec. What is the problem?

I very angry about the capture driver, because I haven't been succeding install a properly functioning driver for ASUS 3400TNT under Windows XP. The Live 46b5 and the asdvcr 2.1 don't work. I'm getting always the same problem messages that you mentioned above. Is there anybody who has any idea to solve this problem? ASUS don't care about the hardware support. Thanx

I got video capture to work with XP, finally. I visited the german ASUS site and found a capture driver from nVidia. When I restarted i expected my computer to hang like last time I installed a capture driver but hey, it didnt. Windows notified me that it had found a new hardware; Oh yes, the capture driver. I ran and got my video camera and plugged it in, opened movie maker and it worked. Man was I happy! Download the driver here: ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/TREIBER/VGA/V8200/WDM_1.08.exe

Good luck!
Filip
