I want to assign a drive letter to my canon Powershot A40 but i can't seem to figure it out. The camera shows up in "scanners and cameras" in my computer but i cannot assign a drive letter is there any software or way to do this. I've tried using computer management and it doesn't show up as a removable drive PLEASE HELP !!!

I WANT my Camera to be labelled as a DRIVE LETTER and not only put in "Scanners and Cameras" section of My Computer.

We want it to be like f: or Z: or anything that we can access from the Run Command.

An no it does not assign it a drive letter automatically.

The reason I am asking this is because I need to use a recovery software of my Flashcard because a friend accidentially formatted it. I NEED THIS PICTURES ASAP..

I have the software - i just need my camera to be able to access thru Drive Letter.

PLEASE HELP! I've tried everything.. even tried to map a network drive to \\.\usbport0

(AND DONT JUST ANSWER TWEAKUI - all my drives are enabled)

You may want to consider purchasing a universal card reader. When the card reader is installed it will configure four different drives on your system. Plug your Flashcard into the card reader and you will see it recognized on one of the configured drives. At that point you can manipulate it as you would any other drive on your system.

Hope this helps.

You want answers and then tell us the answers you don't want. If one is looking for help, one does not tell the helper how to help. IMHO. Politeness pays off.

uh, busybody, i would consider it polite to list all the info possible, including what steps people have tried and what they dont want to do (ie someone wants a faster computer without paying any money, they might just need to run defrag)

anyway, on to the actual problem

try uninstalling your camera totally - uninstall the camer software, the configuration, everything. then, reinstall it all. make sure you dont have the camera plugged in when you install certain software - the instructions will tell you when to put your camera in. attaching the camera before you should can cause problems

post back if that doesnt work :)

Russell, I agree. It was the language of the info I found fault with.
