While browsing using either IE / Opera or Firefox, in certain sites this message pops up and after trying to debug the browser closes. The message shown is while using Firefox....Can anyone help? Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Assertion failed!
Program: c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
File: ../../src/share/native/sun/awt/.../fontObject.cpp
Line: 418Expression: offset<fFileSize
For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the Visual C++ documentation on asserts
(Press Retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled)

It's not obvious what this is: "File: ../../src/share/native/sun/awt/.../fontObject.cpp"
But can you reinstall it?
This cpp is apparently the one VC doesn't like.

I've reinstalled windows and SP1.
Same problem...this problem happens only on certain websites. The Java icon also appears when the message pops up.
Yes, but we still don't know where that cpp file is. ../../
Doesn't help.
My guess is it's NOT part of windows.

If you Google 'assertion failed cpp' (without quotes) you'll find a ton of stuff on this message, including the cpp file.
I would uninstall Java Virtual Machine in your control Panel. Then load up FireFox and visit a java site and reload the plugin.
