You can get your ASPI drivers here. CDRWin will work without a hitch.

You can get them at www.adaptec.com. Do a search for aspi32.exe and run this file. It may help. You can also run aspichk.exe and it will detect and list the current version of the ASPI Layer on your system.

There is a group of Aspi Utils in a thing called ForceAspi, you can take the aspi layer out and put them in, as sometimes you end up with incorrect versions of one thing or another. Also at Adaptec there is a thing called Aspi Checker, which is a great help to see what you are doing. All my burner programs run under XP now.

those arent for windows XP, it says before you install the aspi drivers this...
"this utility upgrades ASPI for windows 95/NT. Do you wish to continue?"

i dont see a "XP" in the installation...

I had the same original problem as Jason in Audiocatalyst; I could only rip in Analog in Windows 2000. I ran the zip file posted by Brains and it worked, but Audiocatalyst still won't do MSCDEX. Anyone know how I can fix that to have all three ripping options?

Thanks

Right now, i don't believe there is any hope for XP and MSCDEX. Im having the same problem with AudioCatalyst and it drives me crazy. The ASPI drivers listed above work perfectly with 2000 but definitely not XP. The closest hope is here:

the aspi drivers on http://xp.xyu.ca/winxp/aspi.zip say they are for 2k/xp (read readme)
i suggest the driver has been modified, coz normally xou cannot install adaptec aspi drivers - they are locked to adaptec hardware. some releases do not have this lock. so i come to the conclusion that the adaptec driver 4.6 by http://xp.xyu.ca/winxp/aspi.zip is kinda crack

I had the same problem with aspi drivers. Now, about audiocatalyst, I must tell you that the "Audiograbber 1.80" is most better. It doesn't need aspi drivers to rip the CD! Additionally, you must find the Xing mp3enc. After you setup this program, you can find in the instalation directory the mp3enc engine program. Use this program (read first the "mp3enc readme.txt" with the Audiograbber and be sure you will forget for ever the Audiocatalyst (The Audiocatalyst it is still one of the greatest mp3 rip programs). Enjoy!

The Aspi driver works fine in XP. As it says in the text NT means that it works with XP as XP is built on NT.

I tried the drivers from http://xp.xyu.ca/winxp/aspi.zip, but they still don't work, 'cause I don't have an Adaptec device. My CD burner's a Matsus---a UJDA710 on an XP installed notebook. Any other drivers for it?

I have Philips CDRW400 and windows xp pro. Nero works great but Fireburner/CDRWin don't work at all as I can't install the aspi. On reboot after installing that aspi thing i get a no_more_irp_stacks error or something like that, then it reboots again and scandisk says that c:\documents and settings\myusername\ntuser.log is invalid size? What the problem? Wrong aspi version or...?

I'm having the same troubles as some people above. Even w/ Adaptec 4 running on my machine, XP gives me an error msg: There's a known compatability issue.....I've run the drivers update listed above w/ no luck. Says I have no qualified adaptec software and no matter what I do - i'm still stuck.

Any other offers of help? In the aspi.zip file, I run the check, the batch and the update. :/ XP has been cool to me otherwise, this is a pain though.

I GOT IT TO WORK!! FIREBURNER AND XP!!! They work in perfect harmony together now, after over an hour of work. Unlike some of you most of those above suggestions did not work at all. If you are in the same position I was in, you are in luck! I went to www.yahoo.com typed in winaspi32.dll and found a site on geocities with a file called aspi!.zip and this solved it instantly, I rebooted and it works! Aspi!.zip http://www.geocities.com/aspi_driver/

Why on God's Green Earth would nynone use the retroactive abortion known as Xing? AudioGrabber is superior: yes. It also lets you use a REAL encoder such as LAME. For heaven's sake stop using that Xing crap - it's the worst thing to happen to MP3.
