I have a problem arranging my music files by type. If I haver a folder full of MP3 files and WAV fles, I used to be able to select Arrange By Type and the MP3s would all be sorted on top, and then all the WAVs would be sorted on the bottom of the list.
My problem is no distinction is being made betweeen the two file types. When details are showing, all of my MP3 and WAV files show as TYPE: Winamp Media File, therefore there is no way to sort them, except by name or date (etc) and this is useless to me. I know in the past, my MP3s were a different type so that they could be sorted easily from MP3s. I don't want to have to associate the WAVs with another application just to get the TYPE to change so the sorting can work. Is there another way?
I have alreay tried adjusting the description of the file type (Folder Options .. Fle Types ....Advanced ) for WAV but the description carries over to all Winamp Media Files and so the problem remains.
I just want to be able to sort by type so MP3s are listed first, then WAVs are listed last.

I changed the association with WAV files to solve the problem. This may have been the reason why it worked in the past.
WAVS now open with Cool Edit and MP3s open with Winamp. This now allows them to be sorted by type sp that a get a listing of my MP3s first and then WAVS.
