For some reason when I am searching through a program to find files or folders they are constantly listed by when they were modified rather than by name. Changing it to be listed by name only works that one time and then it reverts back. This doesn't happen when using Window Explorer for example, just when I for example have Notepad open and browse through things.

Open Windows Explorer, arrange your files in a view how you like them, then click 'Tools', Folder Options, then the View tab. Click 'Apply to all Folders' button. Not sure if this is what you are referring to. (?)

Thank you very much, it worked! However the one problem is there's some folders where I want to show files by when they were modified, however this will do for now.

If you change individual folders, they will stay that way as long as you don't use the 'Apply to all Folders' option again.
