This problem is killing me! I have just built a PC - Win XP/512MB ddr ram, 2.53Ghz P4 - When I try to open a file in windows and the box "Open File(s)" shows up, it's not automatically in "arrange by name" as the default - I don't think it's in any order. I could keep right-clicking and doing it manually, but I'm wondering whether it's an OS install problem, and I should try reinstalling? Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'll assume you are using Windows Explorer to open a file. Is it set up to view 'details'? If it is, just click on Name to sort them that way or Type to sort by type. I'm a little confused by your post.

Say you're saving this website from internet explorer. The box that shows up "Save Web Page"...all the folders and files are NOT in alphabetical order automatically. Should they not be?? I'm wondering if there's a setting somewhere in Windows, where I can have everything automatically go to an alphabetical listing, rather than right clicking and arranging by names.
