I have been using Ares P2P for a while for file sharing and I was on a T1 connection, We just upgraded to T3 and ever since Ares along with other P2P program will not connect. Ares, Warez, Kazza all say connecting but never connect. My computer is running from a Linksys wireless router. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I left Ares on all night trying to connect because I know that it can take a while, so I don't think that could be the case. I could have an error with the ports, but I didn't mess with them because I do not know which ones it should be on being that I have a wireless router and stuff. It worked not too long ago, but ever since switched to T3 it has been screwed up. I tried disabling the firewall and stuff like that.

check your router settings.. Make sure the ports are open for your router to allow ares to connect.

Junk Internet Explorer,
Get Firefox! You'll be happy you did.

I don't know how, the only thing I have installed that has anything to do with my router is the wlan monitor, and I cannot figure out how to do anything with it. It worked before and i don't think I changed anything since then.

I'm guessing the wlan monitor is a utility for your wireless card in your desktop.
What you need to do is connect to the router and forward the ports that you need to the computer you wish to use Ares on.

On your computer, open up the 'Command Prompt' and type 'ipconfig'.
A list of addresses should come up.
You need the ;ip address' and the 'default gateway'.
In a web browser, eg Internet explorer, type the 'default gateway' address into address bar. The default gateway address should be something like 192.168.0.1

If all goes well you should get a prompt for a login and password (your router manual should have these) should be something like admin/password or just blank.

A configuration screen should come up, and somewhere on the screen should be a link called 'port forwarding' or 'virtual servers' or something like that.

You need to find out what ports Ares uses then enter them on that page. The Ip address that it asks for is the one from the command prompt.

Hope I was of some help :=)
