When opening "run", I don't recall ever finding one highlited that wasn't one I'd last used.

First time in 10 yrs now, I found one I don't recall ever using, "ras show registeredserver".

I have to admit I've had a few 'senior' moments, but I really can't recall ever seeing such a command, so I'm now wondering if Windows or something else can enter/used run commands.

You can make shortcuts to have them run, like %windir%\system32\control.exe "command of your choise".

Some installation programs also use "run" commands from batch files. For example to enter registry keys for the installed program.

However AFAIK only commands entered from the keyboard should show up as recently used commands. But since mine are cleared when I turn the computer off, I may be wrong here.

Thank you for replying.

Yes, my system too clears all used command entries after shutdown and re-booting.

Unnerving to have found one there, especially not knowing why/how it was run.

I did since notice that IPSEC Services re-started and did so regardless that I'd recently stopped its running and even re-set itself to automatic startup depsite my having (supposedly) disabled it, ref. computer mgmt>services.

I'll post back if any of this continues, after after re-booting, etc.

Clearing "My Recent Documents" list also clears
the RUN command drop down list.

Right click Start,
then Properties,
then Customize... button,
then Advanced tab,
then click "clear list" button at the bottom.
