I have tryed apache on my win 2000 pro,
another xp pro.. then i had a 'big' os reinstall and still, same problem..
it is really wierd.. a not very long time ago i had apache and it worked perfectly.. but when i installed the new apache..i stop the IIS, install apache, enetered all info right...
it all runs, no errors..
but
it takes 95% cpu while no one is accessing the server, and goes to about 40-60% cpu when someone IS accessing it..
really wierd..
i was looking around for some time and did not find anyone else with this problem on the net.. so i post here with hope..please help me..
thank you

that sounds about right..
i run the game called command and conquer generals, it take 100% of the cpu

it doesnt make sence to..
thats a game you are playing and ya it uses 100cpu to take you computer over while you are playing and enjoying it..
but this is a server which should be completely opposit to what it is doing now.
it must be quiet when not accessed and use a little power when it is accessed. when its doing what it is.. it doesnt make sence..
if no one replies within next 5 hours.. i will email Apache group and ask them..
if the suggestion works i will post here for future victims like me..

yes, and it'd make even more "sence" if you could use proper english. Of COURSE a server uses alot of the CPU, that's why you don't host websites on your personal computer.

haha
nice going here.
i ment that server is not supposed to
be at 100% CPU while nothing else is running and NOone else is going to it.
my comp is fast. and when i had an older
version of apache (1.3.x.x) all was perfect.at the end...
i recommend everyone that has the same problem
to uninstall apache 2.0.x from their machine
and download and install an older version, 1.3.x.x (use latest). --Just like PHP's readme
recommends to use 1.3.x.x and wait for future releases of PHP to make sure that you
will have a more reliable configuration. In my case, that is what's do.
However, I do not have a good reason to
have Apache installed anyway, so I uninstalled
Apache, configured my IIS to use php as well, then turned it back on.
(You will find the installation guide with more information on how to configure your ISS for PHP as well as Apache in Readme file included with the PHP's package.)Thank you for your advise on how the games should run, Kerin.
And others, who don't care about games, and run hosting on their machines instead.
As for me, I have a meeting with a Largenian governor, on planet Largiyarld in Dunsconer's system in about 4 light years. I must hurry up.. c ya later.

lol that is right whwn i play ut2003 my cpu usage is at max 100% it cant get lower because games need avery bit of performace
even if u disable back round programs it will be the same memory usage will go down but not the cpu usage so dont wory that is normal
