Whenever I start AOl on this system, AOLacsd.exe pops up in the processes and runs full bore using all of the system resources. Connection to AOL becomes very slow and everything else won't run. If I kill AOLacsd.exe AOL disconnects but my pc becomes useable. AOL tell me it Windows. Microsoft tells me its AOl. Tell tells me they don't know. The Pc is behind a linksys router, but when I connected it directly to the cable modem, the problem persists. Any solutions or work arounds would be greatly appreciated. Marc

Another finger-pointing especially among the Giants :-) The truth is: AOLacsd.exe is a part of the AOL Internet Software and relates to the connection driver, essential to Internet connection. This program is a non-essential system process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems. Is AOL also your ISP? i_XpUser

well i had AOL and you do need it, from what i remember it is the AOL connection system so basically without it i dont htink your internet will work properly unless you are on a network then you dont even need to log in.

It has to be part of your AOL Internet connection if AOL is your ISP. Mine isn't. I uses AOL but I don't have AOLacsd.exe on this PC. i_XpUser

XPUser- From my searches, that file appears to come with AOL ver.9. Do you have v9 ? I have Netzero. Only 9.95/mo. Chuck
