Any AOLers have the new Safety & Security Center? Just wondering as I was going to download it but I see that they want you to uninstall Norton and the XP Firewall.

If you're not with AOL, if AOL isn't your ISP provider, forget it. Read the interesting comments following this news article about AOL releasing this Standalone Security Application (FYI...McAfee provides the virus signatures)

With so many better alternatives available, I'm surprised anyone even uses AOL anymore...lol.

If the "Safety & Security Center" is anything like their other Spyware Protection, you're in trouble.

AOL's "Safety & Security" is a sick joke. It literally does NOTHING to help keep your computer safe. XP firewall, AVG Anti-Virus and Ad-Aware do a better job than anything AOL has to offer.

All it does, if anything, is load more garbage into your system in which you'll have a total NIGHTMARE in trying to uninstall should you ever quit AOL someday. A friend of mine found it easier to reformat/reinstall his entire OS than deal with all of AOL's hidden garbage.

OK, thanks for the input. I will stay away from it. Just wanted to hear some comments from people that are familiar with it. And I like AOL for the stock market bulletin boards which are very important to me.

I am an aol user, who just upgraded to their "secuirty edition" (DON'T DO THIS)It eliminates all previous versions of AOL, including the free McAfee that came with them. This new one doesn't give you any protection as far as I can see.

I just tried to install the stand alone, because the McAfee I have ran out. It got through the download and wouldn't do set up. Talked with an AOL "tech" who (in my opinion)had no buisness dealing with the issue, who told me to order it on CD! When I asked what I should do about virus protection in the meantime, I was told "not to make any changes!"
