i tried installing aol after i upgraded to xp, but every time itll get to 90 % and then itll give me a message that says "thanks for trying aol. when u wanna complete setup click retry america online setup on ur desktop"....that would make sense if i cancelled in the middle of setup but i didnt...this happened with aol 7 and 6...what do i do?

Make sure you're logged on as 'administrator' when installing programs. Otherwise, files cannot be written to. (changed) Richard

AOL 7.0 should be XP compatible. I believe prior versions aren't. However, I installed AOL 5.0 (only CD i could find lying around), and it worked. And then I simply updated it to 7.0 the first time i connected online.

i was logged on administrator i think because even though it said setup wasnt there, i checked the install diretory and it eemed like all the files were present, it just didnt show up on add/remove programs list or in the stratup group...its wierd, then i try to connect but it only gets to step 5 of connecting to aol and then it jsut stops...wierd....
