AOL email hyperlinks not always act

Hi. I'm trying to get my Dad off AOL but he is timid. He's having a problem with his email program. Some of the hyperlinks that people send him are not active. I explained how to copy and paste but he can't get it. I'm not familiar with AOL and it's hard to help him. He says when he clicks on the links that I send him he is taken directly to the web site. But others are not active. One of his favorites are sent to him weekly from some church. He says they used to work but not anymore. He is using Windows XP and I'm working on finding out what version of AOL he is using.
Summary: Email hyperlinks embeded at websites do not work. I have to copy and paste at my email - Yahoo. This happens using Firefox, IE or Netscape. I have Zone Alarm but I don't see a problem in my setting...
Summary: I have 2 new computers, athlon 2400's with win xp pro on them. For some reason they periodically loose the internet and email capabilities. After a new clean install of windows everything worked good....
