After uninstalling aol 7.0 I couldn't connect get IE 6.0 to bring up a web page. I resolved the issue by using XP's restore to a late date option. Does anyone know what registry keys aol takes out when it is uninstalled that would cause IE not to work.

I repeated the uninstall of aol and then restored it using xp's restore option 2x's. So I'm sure something in the registry is being removed when I uninstall aol that causes IE to give "page cannot be displayed" message everytime I uninstall aol.
Any information would be helpful.

when i uninstalled aol 7.0, i didn't have any problems whatsoever. maybe IE is still trying to access the aol dialup adapters?

as far as i know the install modifies the winsock2 entries in the registry.

i removed the winsock2 keys and restarted the computer. windows will add these keys again.

I thought it was winsock2 but wasn't sure, I'll try it.
