I have my 2 laptops connected via a cross over cable. I have copied a folder from one to the other. However, when I checked, the original folder had 449 files in it and the new folder has 444 files. I have viewed and copied the files with the hidden files option checked, so I should be able to see all files in the folder, right? When comparing the folders, the files, match file for file, exactly. But going to properties of the folder, there is still a discrepency of 4 files. Is there a way of finding out what these mysterious 4 files are? I am using XP Pro. Can anyone help?

They might be O/S files - if u also untick 'Hide Protected O/S files', u might see 'em.
Hope this helps

Check this microsoft article on how to use Briefcase with XP. It should do what you are looking for, easier than finding individual files.

Do you have one of the files open at the time of viewing, as this will create a temp file (unseen) in one of the folders

If ur XP states that there are 449 files present (when u have all hidden and O/S files showing) and there is only 444, then I suggest u teach ur computer to count lol !!
