Anyone know about the IE About flaw?

I remember an IE flaw...I think it has to do with it's about: url. Anyway, it allows websites to open a pop up, which then stays minimized on your taskbar. If you click on it or try to restore it, nothing happens. It's used to sit there and spy on you.
I had to reformat my hard drive, and now I lost the patch (or fix) to this problem. Last night the flaw/vulnerability got me again. Does anyone know how to fix this, or a website that describes it?

Junie I had a similar problem with IE. Go to th MS Knowledge Base Article - Q318378. It is titled "How to reinstall or repair internet explorer and outlook express in Windows XP. I used Method 1 and no more problems. Hope that works for you.

I don't have a problem with IE. it's a bug that allows web programmers to keep a window open so it can keep reporting what you're doing. I know there was a patch or workaround for it. I don't like how certain websites do it just to track me

In regards to IE6.Microsoft has a patch available at windows update.I saw in another forum that there is an update as of today.I checked and it is a patch for IE6.An 8 min. download(that I took)dealing with security vulnerabilities.There is another new patch that deals with DOS attacks(denial of service)in xp.Take Care.JB
