Having no luck upgrading ME to XP, would appreciate any issues that you may have experienced with my basic system. FIC 503+ K6-2 500mhz

When I upgrade I get fatal error Stop C000021a {Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly OXC000003a

When I clean install I get a system clock and date wrong, and in the activation screen “remind me later” goes back to the welcome screen in a loop. Thanks for reading.

Yes, I have upgraded from Win98 to XP-Pro on a
AMD K6-2/333 Mhz, 256 MB-RAM System. And I must say it works great. I think it is not your
K6-2/500 Mhz that causes the problem.

I successfully upgraded from ME to XP pro on my FIC 503+ K6-2 500mhz last January. I found the same error message on MS KB (Q316503). C000021a (fatal system error).
The session manager initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000003a (0x00000000, 0x00000000)
The article says it has to do with Norton System Works so I don't know if this pertains to your particular situation.

I upgraded from Win 98se to XP on my IBM with the AMD K6 500 processor and it took me six (6) nights, four to five hours each night. All kinds of errors came up. My main problem was a file that would not install. Plus another week at nights to install Norton 2002. Then, my USB ports wouldn't work along with my brand new X83 Lexmark printer/copier/scanner. A windows 2000 driver fixed that. Then my keyboard volume control wouldn't work along with the help button. An updated keyboard driver from IBM fixed that. Then, my old Lexmark Z52 printer wouldn't work right with the new XP driver, so I put the settings for it to windows 98 on the XP's compatibility feature Now it seems to work ok. Plus, the XP package instructions never said to uninstall all old programs on my windows 98, so, I spent 2 weeks deleting old files once I got the XP installed. So, it took me about 5 weeks steady going at nights and weeknds to get XP going and fine tuned. Good luck ! You will need it. Plus tons of help and patience. I got all my help at the Microsoft XP Newsgroup web site. They got some real genius people there.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE PATCH WICH YOU USE FOR WIN 95 WHICH USE TO GIVE PROBLEMS ON K62-350 AND ABOVE. WIN XP SEEMS TO BE THE SAME SO I SUGGEST AS I DO HAVE A K62-500 RUNNING ON XP WITH THE PATCH INSTALLED AND WORKS GR8...

GO TO WWW.GOOGLE.COM AND SEARCH FOR AMD K62-350 PATCH YOU SHOULD GET SOME JOY THERE GOOD LUCK AND FEEL FREE TO E-MAIL ME IF YOU NEED TO AND REMEBER YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWN CLOCK THE CHIP TO A 350 AND THEN GO BACK TO A 500 AFTER XP IS INSTALLED.

ALL THE BEST

JOHN..
