Any ways to make dsl connection faster

When I first got dsl, my speeds were around 1200-1500 kps. However, now my speed tests are around 500-700 kps. What would be the cause of this significant drop? Also, is there anything that I can do to make my connection faster. Thanks in advance. BTW, I am running Win XP Pro, w/ 384 mb of ram
dsl is not cable. dsl is not affected by addition of more people in your area. dsl is a one-on-one connection with your isp, whereas with cable, you share the bandwidth from other people in your area.
Either your isp has changed the rate plans (and thus dropped your speeds), your isp is having network problems, your computer has been reconfigured poorly, or the internet was congested at the time.
check your settings (rwin, mss, etc). Then do pings and tracert's.

Yep, DSL is one and one. and the close you are to the phone company the better. I have DSL and my speed is just about the same from the 1st time I got it..
