I have a deskjet 890c and it wont work well with XP. Most of the time the power and resume lights are flashing alternately.

Driver is installed correctly, no paper jam, it just stops. No other driver available at hp.com , they advise to use the basic xp driver.

I have a HP 712C, which XP recognized and installed. The Printer Toolbox utilities HP supplied won't install under XP, but XP does include the alignment routines when you select the printer, right click and select Properties.

However, it won't print in color from the web; the image that prints out looks like the registration is off by about 1/4". What a mess. It will print about 1/2 to 2/3 of a .jpg on disk from within any image software, and then the lower portion has the "registration" problem.

The same printer moved over to the Windows 98 machine works fine.

Doesn't look like HP is going to support the 712C anymore, and I doubt MS will do anything on this one.

I have a HP deskjet 890c and a scanjet 5100c. The scanjet I have given up all hope on getting working under XP. The printer I can get working (although sometimes have to repeat the following) Delete the printer from the printer category. Go under device manager and remove the LPT1 port, then shutdown. When is is back up, edit the port and select "use any interupt" make sure plug and pray is checked OK it, and your printer will be detected and reinstalled. Select NO when it comes to print a test page. It should now work again. Anybody got any better fixes, please let me know.
Thx
