That's for the Phoenix bios chip. Don't know what dell uses but the manual should tell you.

If the pc is brand new as you said in your other post below this one, why don't you just request a replacement from Dell?
You said in the other post, that you got nowhere with Dell.... this is nonsense, as there are laws to protect the consumer. They must replace defective products.
Seems to me it would be wise not to dick around and try to troubleshoot a product that should be replaced in the first place.
Whatever you do, don't do anything to void the warranty!! Good luck, and take care!

Newb22-- If you've looked in your Dell manual or on the back of your 4600 you couldn't possibly miss the 4 diagnostic lights on the case. Compare the lights to the pictures in your manual beginning on page 54. Believe it or not, the manual gives the meaning of the diagnostic light patterns. After that, with your curiosity satisfied, if you are still within 21 days of the date the computer left Dell, tell them you are sending it back for a new one and get an authorization number. Dell has discontinued the 4600 however, so seriously doubt if you're within that window.

Good advice to get the return authorization number first. My past experiences with Dell's customer service dept has been great. I have the Dell 2350, and am very happy with it. _ BUT _
I do hope you do not require any assistance from their contracted tech support people in India. I could write a good book about that! Sadly, their tech support has gone down the crapper. Good luck with your pc. Tell them to replace it!! Hope this helps.
