Here is an interesting study on antivirus software. Turns out the best programs are a couple of obscure ones. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/pos...

Right behind it was the equally-obscure NOD32, which swept away 68 percent of the threats.
I would not call Nod32 obscure, there will be a great many other users who will agree with me. I have been using Nod32 for two years now, and it's far superior to Norton's crap.

IMO small, startup firms are always aggressive but once they get to be bigger, they will be more complacent like the big boys.

Well Nod32 definitely gets plenty of mention on these forums and a good rating. Kapersky also used to be highly rated so perhaps it's all relative.

Bit of a narrow test, as it measured heuristic virus checking
... tested how well releases dated February 2 (with no updates) fared against a swath of new malware-viruses, scripts, trojans, and other nasties-that were discovered between February 2 and May 2
... something that they go on to admit is not a great likelihood.
While the chances of being hit by a virus that hasn't been found is low, it does happen
As always, intelligent practices are the best defense
(and no, I'd never thought of Nod32 as being 'obscure')Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real.
