I used a trial version of Nod32 on my laptop. I
decided to switch to AVG Antivirus. When I
uninstalled Nod32, the uninstall window hung
and i had to end the process by clicking 'End
Now'. The folder of Nod32 was gone so i
thought it had been successfully deleted!
Then, when I installed AVG, It said that i first
needed to delete another antivirus installed on
my system. Now, as the folder was deleted,
there was no uninstall file that could complete
the uninstallation. Now I am stuck with no
antivirus installed. Please help!

Reinstall Nod32 and try uninstalling it again but give it a little more time.

When the uninstall was aborted it left loads of registry entries behind. It is these that is making AVG thing there is still an anti-Virus installed.

If it fails again you may have to go through the registry and manually delete all references to Nod32.

Reinstall Nod32 then uninstall well in safe mode. This way none of its services are running which may prevent a complete uninstall if areas of Nod32 are still running. If you don't have ccleaner on your system download and install. Use the registry cleaner portion to remove orphan enterers left in the registry.
