I have 2 problems that I hope someone can help with.
1. In the event log, there is a warning for Dhcp. This hangs my system on startup for a good 20 seconds. The warning is "Your computer has automatically configured the IP address for the network card with network address 001111773230. The IP address being used is 169.254.225.206" The event ID is 1007. How do I fix this?
2. Everytime I try to install norton antivirus (part of norton systemworks 2003), the computer restarts during installation and doesn't correctly install the virus scanner. This happens everytime I try. I believe it says that it has restarted due to a bug check.
Any help with these will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

As for the network card problem: If your computer is not on a network, try assigning it a static IP address. Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection > Properties > Double-click TCP/IP > Use Following IP Address > 192.168.000.1 > Press <tab> key, leave subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.
Don't worry about assigning DNS settings. If this does not work, try reinstalling the NIC drivers. As far as Norton goes, please, save yourself a lot of pain and purchase NOD32 antivirus : www.nod32.com - You won't regret it, Norton SUCKS! NAV is bulky, slows down your system, doesn't pick up a large percentage of viruses... NOD32 by Eset is the best. Read reviews if you don't beleive me. :)

I can agree with that, just uninstalled NAV & NIS cuz it was causing so many problems...comp lagging, couldn't do any updates, etc...

Thanks for the Dhcp warning fix. I guess it was from when I disconnected my router and ran direct.
As far as Norton goes, I agree that it sux but I'd still like to know why it is doing that. Just in case I run into the problem again with another app or if someone else asks me about it.
Thanks again for the help. =)
