Hmmm,

I have just read the countless posts about the pop-up "cmd.exe" window which can sometimes appear unwanted on logging in. One of the orginal posts was mine and, for the last 2 months, there has been no problem. Today, however, my Trend Realtime I/O engine stopped working and the "cmd.exe" window starting popping up again on login. This is a complete nightmare....the o/s slows down to about 70%of the speed it should be running at. I have checked the "msconfig" startup tables and "cmd.exe" is not there to deselect so I cant remove it from there. Deleting it doesnt work...it respawns. I have used Trends PC.cillin, AVG and Norton WD to try and shed some light on the situation but they dont pick the problem up. Im running out of ideas and was wondering if anyone can help (again). It would be much appreciated.

sounds to me like there is a process running on boot that is hanging, and keeping this window open.

Sure mate....but I need to know how to get rid of it.

Its not listed in the Services applet, nor can it be disables in MSCONFIG...

Anyone with any bright ideas?
