Hi,
We have installed a network of six computer(4 AMD > 1700+ and 2 pentium3) with a switch and a router as follow:
router: zyxel prestige 600 series(don't get uplink)
switch: typhoon 10/100 mbits(4 port + 1 uplink)
one pc connected to DSL modem(not included in the 6 computers).
DSl modem connected to the router(4 ports)
port 1 to 3 of router: 3 pcs connected with 2 cat5 ftp 300/24 and one flex/26 cable
port 4 of router: cable C(ftp 300/24) to the uplink of the switch
port 2 to 4 of the switch : 3 pcs connected
with flex/26
As we don't know how to configure the router, we have selected the automatic configuration but we have 2 problems:
1. when some PCs are connected and surfing, the others couldn't or behave as i'll describe in 2..
2. it seems that the pc0 is busy:
when I enter an in the navigator or click on a link i see firstime "resolving " in the statusbar and then a popun "connection was refused". the second time
"connecting to " and then "connection was refused". the third time it works. it often works the firstime but rarely.
we have all that problem and we thought, we reset the router. we done it but after 3 days, still have the same problem.
What should we do ? A port-mapping(what is it ?) or trying to properly configure the router (how)?
Thanks.
