I have this window that pops up all the time and the title of the window is "reminder saturday august 30, 2003, 9:45pm" (it'll say whatever date it is and the current time). the window itself i guess tries to connect to the net cause it says The Page Cannot Be Displayed blah blah.
there's no X button on the top right to close the window and the only way to do it is ctrl/alt/delete and end task. What is this???

Is there any chance you clicked on one of those advertisements..."your system clock may be wrong do you want to update it?"
If that is so...The program name might be "clock sync" or something like that...whick I believe comes from Gator or Gain....
Any entries in startup tab with gator or gain?
Go to add/remove programs in control panel and remove the program. Empty out your temporary internet files.
Then get spybot search and destroy and ad-aware, update both programs and run scan. Let the programs remove what they find.
These programs are both free and are designed to remove spyware which is what i believe you are troubled with. Having both programs is a good idea cus they both will catch different componets of spyware.

spybot

http://wilders.org/HTMLobj-1590/spybotsd12.exe

ad-aware

http://www.lavasoft.de/

If you want furthur protection to help stop this stuff from being placed on your computer in the first place...
try these two programs...also free

spyware blaster..also needs updating

http://wilders.org/HTMLobj-1593/spywareblastersetup.exe

browser hijack blaster...provides real time protection from sites messing with youe internet explorer settings.

info on all 4 programs and how to use them listed above and info about spyware can be found on the last link I gave you.

Hope this helps...
good luck

I didnt find any Gator or Gain in my start up. I downloaded both the programs u said to DL and the first one Spybot found a lot of stuff but I didnt know if it was safe to remove all it found. (it had like windows media player and stuff in it) i DL the ad-aware and did run that and removed what it found.
I dont click on any ads that say "click here" and such. I noticed it started doing this REMINDER pop up window after I DL'd and installed a pop up blocker. I removed that but this one window keeps popping up

The windows media player thing spybot found is not a problem removing..I have and can still run windows media player. You can tell spybot to ignore that if you want. It wont show up next scan if you tell spybot to ignore. (exclusions)
There are some popup blockers that do come with spyware in it.
In both spybot and ad-aware they have a recovery section if any of your programs are broken as a result of removing spyware. Personally I havn't found any problems but nice to know the recovery option is there if you really want the program.
In ad-aware the recovery section is the quarentine and spybot is recovery. Most of the time after removing a program that comes bundled with annoy ware it leaves the junk behind...of course they won't tell you that....
Just out of ceriousity..what was the popup blocker called and what site is it from?
If you are looking for a good one.. "panicware" has one (free) there is pay for versions there too if you want more options. I also understand that popup blocker stops only the popups you tell it to so it will not interfere with popups from your antivirus telling you there is updates available and whatever other popups you want to keep. Basically you have to teach it what you want it to block.

Good luck

I had the same problem on my hp laptop. It is "Easy Internet sign-up" that somehow got scheduled to run every half hour. Just find the app on your computer, run it and disable the scheduling.
