I have a new HPvs19e pc that I tried to update to Vista (using the software) but I didn't like it so I restored back to WinXP; however, since then I keep getting a dialog box that says,"upload.msi" missing. It comes up when a program called Digital Imageing tries to load. Please help, this is very annoying. Thank you ... you folks are great!
You posted about this 2 weeks ago. Run MSCONFIG & see if it's listed on the startup list...if it is, switch it off.
You should have wiped your HDD & done a clean install of XP, rather than a "rollback"

Windows Installer still pops up and tries to load HP Assistant, even though I did what you advised. Did I miss something here?

Have you run your Windows Updates yet? If not do so and see if that fixes the issue.
Other than that, there was an issue a while back with just such a problem. MS had a tool on their website that would fix the issue with the installer. Perhaps if you search their site, or google, for "windows installer error" or a string like that, you might find what you need to fix the issue.
