I have American Megatrends BIOS... AMIBIOS.
Can someone please tell me how to make it so my mouse and keyboard will work at startup. What settings do I need to edit. My keyboard and mouse are both USB driven. Mouse plugs into back of keyboard, keyboard plugs into back of computer. They dont work until you plug them in after startup. I need enable USB support for mouse and keyboard, i think.
i have windows xp home, amd athlon 1900+, 256sd ram.
regards

You probably need to go into the BIOS Setup (before Windows starts). On many computers you press the 'Delete' key shortly after you turn the power switch on. You would set the USB ports to 'Enabled' and the 'support for USB keyboard' to 'Enabled'. Be sure to Save the new BIOS settings before exiting and booting to Windows. Read your motherboard manual, if you have it.

Go into the bios(press Del, F1, or F2 key when you see the ram check), at the cmos setup utility screen, select Integrated Periphrals option. Now, select USB Legacy Support. This item lets you enable or disable the USB keyboard driver within the onboard BIOS. The keyboard driver simulates legacy keyboard command and let you use USB keyboard during POST or after boot if you don't have USB driver in the os. BTW, What are the brandnames of your mouse and keyboard? Hope this helps. Bye

my keyboard and mouse both say packard bell on them, but in device manager, my mouse manufacturer is logitech, and my keyboard is "standard keyboards". They both use microsoft dirvers. Ive tried the BIOS settings and cannot find the word mouse or keyboard anywhere! There is only one bit for USB. And both options are enabled.
I dont know if new drivers would solve the prob or not :(

There are a variety of problems that can arise from using Legitech mouse with a Packard Bell computer, particular a Packard Bell that includes the Media Select or Fast Media system. Two problems can occur:
The Fast Media component fails to work because it works properly only with a Microsoft mouse driver.
Windows incorrectly identifies the mouse when using Media Select because Media Select uses a nonstandard PS/2 pass-through that interferes with the detection of the mouse. There's a workaround for this at www.logitech.com
Bye

ok,
i have sorted the problem, well for now anyway. It must be a USB hardware problem.
I have 4 USB ports. 2 at the back, and 2 at the front of my computer. I used the 2 at the back for my keyboard/mouse and broadband. There is a problem becuase they both dont work at startup.
When you use the 2 ports at the front, everything works the way it should.

Preciso da tabela de códigos (beeps) emitidos pela placa mãe para avisar sobre problemas.
I Need to know about the beeps emmited by the speaker to show the problems with the motherboard or peripherals...
