Ok i'm having a problem with my 2000+, i just installed it again for the millionth time. here are the symptoms; sometimes the comp works fine, and then sometimes it will just reboot for NO reason, i will be in the middle of something, and it will just BAM restart. here is what i have in my "god-machine";

-abit kd7, kt-400 mobo
-xp 2000+
-maxtor 80gb
-liteon cdrw 40/12/48
-pioneer dvd 16/48
-kingston 256 pc2700
-thermaltake volcano 7+
-ati radeon 8500 LE

so i can't really think of what the prob is..... can anyone help me...

oh before i go, having my comp on right now is a strike of luck, my comp will only let me have it on "sometimes" if i define the CPU in the MOBO as "user define" 12.5, 133, 4:2:1, 1.75v, etc... if i just set it to the 2000+ defult it won't start up. thanks guys.....

what size power supply do you have? is it plugged into a ups? how many fans do you have? the 2000 generates a lot of heat. are you getting any error messages? what is the case temp, the cpu temp? we need to try to narrow it down a little.

my power supply is a 300w, i dont quite understand what a UPS is, i have about 8 fans in the comp, and plus the case is always open allowing better ventillation, sometimes a get an error message with the file "ACPI.sys" which is part of the processor files. the case temp is normally at about 40 and my cpu temp is about the same. i keep my Volcano 7+ "cpu fan" running at about 4200 rpm. although, when i changed the cpu voltage from 1.750 to 1.775, the problems greatly reduced, it still shuts down for no reason, i don't know what is goin on. thanks

Get a bigger power supply. Most AMD boards need a 350 Watt or larger. I have a 400 Watt. Why skimp on a small psu with all the hardware and fans you got running.

UPS Uninteruptable Power Supply Sends constant voltage to your power supply. Not a surge protector! These have batteries in most and will give you suficient time to shut down your computer during a power outage. They are nice to have but not necessary. I do have one though.

The only other thing I can think of is ram sometimes that causes shutdowns but your prob sounds more like lack of power.
