Basically I'm planning on buying a new PC with a Pentium 4 processor from my sisters boyfriend (he owns a computer company). Hes trying to force me into buying a AMD Sempron instead of a Pentium 4 just because he doesnt want to waste alot of money on parts. Which processor is better?

Better bang for the buck IMHO too! Do some reading on sites like Tom's Hardware and check the comparison's. For equivalent capability you pay less for AMD. That's enough to convince me.

If the guy is boinking your sister, then he probably is not going to screw you too.
Take his advise, you can always tell your sister he sold you a dog computer and she will get your money back.
If you really don't trust the guy go to Price Watch and build your own computer.

Computers are systems built upon many parts. Try to see if the entire system is tested in a way that you would use the computer. One might be better for some tasks than the other but the entire system makes a difference too. See also memory speed and motherboard reports if any.
