|I've been with Amazon.co.uk for years and have never had any more issues with them than any other company you give your information to. You can always opt out of any emails sent to you (which they do send a lot, admittedly, though I've never had any postal mail), but they are governed by the same rules concerning data protection.|
Incidentally, I always recommend people to (a) set up a second email address for use with on-line purchasing. (b) always use a low credit limit credit card for any purchases as it's then the bank's money that's compromised not yours if things go wrong, never use a debit card unless absolutely necessary.
